In recent years, Russia has increasingly opposed the United States as well as its NATO allies. This has contributed to rising tensions among parties. With military operations elevated in multiple regions on all sides, there are now more chances for an incident to spark major war between large powers. In his new novel, "War with Russia," recently retired Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Sir Richard Shirreff outlines the real risks involved with the present situation.
On October 19, the Brookings Center for 21st Century Security and Intelligence will host a discussion in context of General Shirreff's new novel while also touching on other related areas of interest. General Sir Richard Shirreff (Ret.) of the British Army will join Michael O'Hanlon of Brookings for the discussion.
Following conversation, General Shirreff will take audience questions.
