    When: Thursday, September 28, 2017, 9:00 — 11:00 a.m.

Where: The Brookings Institution, Falk Auditorium, 1775 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, DC

    What:

Securities markets are a vital source of capital for economic growth and provide the vehicle for retirement savings for millions of Americans. Regulation of those markets—by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulators—is vital to promoting growth and stability, restraining bad actors, and encouraging innovative new companies.

On Thursday, September 28, the Center on Regulation and Markets at Brookings will host an event to explore the opportunities and challenges facing securities markets ten years after the financial crisis. The event will feature a conversation with Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Jay Clayton on the key issues facing the SEC, and his perspective on the future direction of securities regulation. Following the discussion with Chairman Clayton, a panel of experts will further examine the issues.

The event will be webcast live. Join the conversation on Twitter #SecuritiesRegs.
