LIVE WEBCAST -- Tax day headaches: Public understanding of the tax code and perceptions of “fairness”
    The 2nd annual Lubick Symposium

    When: Friday, April 7, 2017, 9:00 — 11:30 a.m. EDT

    Where: https://www.brookings.edu/events/tax-day-headaches/

    What:

America’s tax system is notoriously complex, creating difficulties not only for the government—in its efforts to administer the system and enforce compliance—but also for taxpayers, who more often than not are confused and stressed when tax day comes around. How well do American taxpayers really understand the tax code? What makes people perceive their taxes as “fair”—and does understanding change their perceptions of fairness?

On April 7, Brookings Fellow Vanessa Williamson will present new research on American taxpayers’ perceptions of the tax code as part of the second annual Lubick Symposium. This new research, released March 29, results from a Tax Policy Center survey done in conjunction with the news website Vox.com. Williamson also will discuss her recent book on American’s perceptions of the tax system.

This event will be live webcast. Join the conversation on Twitter at #TaxFacts.
