AI + work: Understanding AI’s impact on the labor market

Much has been said about what artificial intelligence (AI) could mean for the labor market; an early wave of research gives us evidence and data to consider.  

On March 10, The Budget Lab at Yale, The Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution, and Peterson Institute for International Economics will host an event on AI’s impact on the labor market. The discussion will focus on what data sources are most useful to understanding how AI is affecting the labor market and how to best utilize those data to make educated inferences. 

The event will feature a research presentation by Jed Kolko (Peterson Institute for International Economics). In addition, the event will include a panel discussion with Bharat Chandar (Stanford Digital Economy Lab and Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence), Martha Gimbel (Budget Lab at Yale), and Nathan Goldschlag (Economic Innovation Group), moderated by Ben Casselman (The New York Times).

The Hamilton Project will release an analysis from Jed Kolko in conjunction with this event.
