Cross-Strait tensions are elevated. How is Beijing’s growing pressure being felt in Taiwan? How is the Tsai administration responding? What impact – if any – will such friction have on local elections in Taiwan this fall?

On September 6, the Brookings Institution will host Minister of the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) Chiu Tai-san for keynote remarks on the MAC’s observations of the current situation in cross-Strait relations. Following Minister Chiu’s remarks, Brookings Senior Fellow Ryan Hass will join Minister Chiu in conversation before opening up to the audience for questions.
