American defense and security require continued investment in improving, modernizing, and strengthening U.S. armed forces and a commitment to implementing the National Defense Strategy. A modernized, ready, and capable U.S. Air Force — one that can project power globally, help allies, deter threats, and effectively wage war when deterrence fails — is a critical component of this commitment.

On February 13, join the Strobe Talbott Center for Security, Strategy, and Technology at Brookings for a conversation with Air Force Chief of Staff General Charles Q. Brown, Jr. on the U.S. defense strategy and budget and the future and biggest challenges of the U.S. Air Force. Topics such as the U.S. Air Force’s “divest to invest” plan, the long-awaited debut of the B-21, the survivability of C4ISR systems, the adequacy of munitions stockpiles, and the state of missile defense will also be discussed.
