World in danger? Europe and the world in 2021

    When: Friday, January 15, 2021, 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. EST

    Online only: https://www.brookings.edu/events/world-in-danger-europe-and-the-world-in-2021/

What: As 2021 brings in a new American president, the geopolitical landscape continues to struggle with COVID-19, the rise of China, and increasing socioeconomic inequality

Will Europe be able to rely on the U.S. as a “protective uncle” or will it need to look to itself more than it ever has? In his new book, “World in Danger: Germany and Europe in an Uncertain Time,” Munich Security Conference Chair Wolfgang Ischinger suggests a practical vision where the European Union is poised to become a more powerful actor on the world stage.

Named one of Foreign Affairs’ Best Books of 2020, “World In Danger” offers insights into the world of diplomacy while unpacking the complexity of foreign policy today.

On January 15, Amb. Ischinger will be joined by President of the Eurasia Group Ian Bremmer and Brookings Senior Fellow Fiona Hill for a discussion of how Europe can successfully address the most urgent challenges facing the continent and the world.
