What: China is no longer just a “rising” power. It has emerged as a truly global actor, both economically and militarily. Every day its actions affect nearly every region and every major issue. To better address the implications of China’s new status, both for American policy and for the broader international order, Brookings scholars conducted research over the past two years, culminating in a new edited volume from the Brookings Institution Press, “Global China: Assessing China’s Growing Role in the World.”
On June 22, the Foreign Policy program at Brookings will host an event exploring the themes addressed in this new edited volume. The event will feature keynote remarks from House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Gregory Meeks, followed by a panel discussion with experts and contributors to the book who will focus on analysis concerning the U.S.-China-India triangle, the U.S.-China nuclear relationship, and the U.S.-China technology race. Questions from the audience will follow their conversation.
