Israel’s military response to Hamas’s attack on October 7 has devastated Gaza, killing tens of thousands and displacing hundreds of thousands, at least. The war has also exposed again the deep rift within Palestinian politics between Hamas, which governs the Gaza Strip, and the Palestinian Authority, which governs parts of the West Bank from Ramallah. How are the war and devastation shaping Palestinian attitudes? What impact will they have on the future of Palestinian society and politics in months and years to come? What might this mean for the future of the Gaza Strip itself?
On February 5, the Center for Middle East Policy at Brookings will host a virtual panel to discuss the future of Palestinian politics and society in light of the war between Israel and Hamas and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
