Many communities are engaging in police reform at the local level to support the changes needed to end practices that lead to hyper-surveillance of, and more injuries and deaths among Black people. These practices have led to policing with impunity, which in turn increases broader health risks among people of color and the financial settlements paid out from tax dollars.
On December 5, join the Race, Prosperity, and Inclusion Initiative at Brookings for a discussion on police reform, specifically focused on the case studies of St. Louis and Baltimore. Brookings experts Keon L. Gilbert and Rashawn Ray will be joined by their research partners and stakeholders from both cities to discuss their findings and assess the impact of policy changes in policing.
