What: Navigating the U.S.-China relationship will be one of the most consequential aspects of foreign policy for the coming decades, as intersections of Chinese and American capabilities, objectives, and influence multiply around the world and competition increases. President Joseph Biden and President Xi Jinping of China will meet virtually on November 15 to discuss a range of issues as both leaders seek to manage not only the bilateral relationship but also a global presence and domestic priorities.

On November 16, the Foreign Policy program at Brookings will host a webinar to explore the themes discussed during the virtual meeting between the leaders, as well as to reflect on the broader U.S. approach to China. The event will begin with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan reading out the virtual meeting between President Biden and President Xi, continue with a moderated discussion with Mr. Sullivan and Brookings Institution President John R. Allen, followed by a panel discussion with Brookings experts who will focus on analysis concerning the U.S.-China relationship.
