Tax law is scheduled to change significantly at the end of 2025, setting the stage for rigorous and consequential policy debates over how revenue is raised and our national priorities. If policymakers use the opportunity effectively, Congress can improve tax policy, strengthen economic security, and improve the fiscal trajectory. That will require maintaining focus on the priorities of raising additional revenue to meet national needs, making the tax system more progressive, and ensuring that tax policy is efficiently promoting widely-shared prosperity.

On Friday, May 10, 2024, The Hamilton Project (THP) at the Brookings Institution will host an event where National Economic Advisor Lael Brainard will discuss the Biden administration’s priorities for future tax policy.

This event is part of a series THP is convening on tax policy. As part of this series THP released work on wide-ranging tax reform proposals that would raise significant revenue, improve progressivity, and better align the U.S. with global tax policy.
