Countless American employers and workers rely on public economic data to make informed business decisions, navigate labor markets, and plan for the future. Given the critical role these data plays in U.S. economic activity and market prosperity, it’s essential that public statistics and reports—like those from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)—are credible and unbiased.

On September 18, the Brookings Institution Economic Studies program will bring together former BLS commissioners and government officials, private-sector leaders, and noted economists to discuss the importance of data integrity to American businesses and the U.S. workforce.
