Around the world, millions of young children are growing up in crisis and displacement contexts, yet their unique needs often remain overlooked in humanitarian response and migration policy. Recent shifts in foreign and domestic aid have further strained resources, raising urgent questions about how to sustain support for children during these critical early years. Without targeted action, the long-term consequences for child development and well-being could be profound.
On December 1, the Center for Universal Education at the Brookings Institution will host an event to explore the challenges to and opportunities for better supporting young children in crisis situations. The discussion will highlight the needs of these children, the implications of recent shifts in foreign and domestic aid, and possible policy and financing solutions to ensure these children are not left behind.
